Moderator Biography
Dwayne Wilson
Dwayne turned 58 last March. He was diagnosed with late-onset Pompe disease (LOPD) in November 2018, at age 50. He lives in Southern California, in the City of Irvine, with his wife and mother-in-law. Dwayne is a father to four sons; his oldest son passed away from a brain tumor at age 22, about seven months before Dwayne’s diagnosis. He is also a grandfather to two granddaughters, ages three and five, and a grandson born last November. Dwayne’s passion is connecting with others to spread hope and positivity about living with Pompe disease, and to put a smile on people’s faces.
Dwayne is an MDA Ambassador and a writer who wrote the column “On the Road to Pompe” for the Pompe Disease News website. He still works a full-time desk job with Toshiba America Business Solutions and serves as a Pompe Champion with Amicus. Dwayne has been interviewed on three podcasts, and his latest appearance, on The Chronic Truth (Episode 88), has reached over 2,000 downloads across all platforms in less than six weeks.
