THE AMDA TO CELEBRATE THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL POMPE DAY WITH COMMEMORATIVE BOOK
April 15, 2014 marked the International Pompe Association’s (IPA) first annual International Pompe Day. In honor of the First International Pompe Day, the Acid Maltase Deficiency Association (AMDA) is creating a Commemorative Book capturing the international Pompe Community’s efforts to recognize this special day and to show the world how “Together We Are Strong!”
Individuals, families, communities, and organizations celebrated the first annual International Pompe Day in many diverse, creative and exciting ways. Some people took to Facebook and asked all of their friends and family to change their profile pictures to the International Pompe Day Logo; some recognized the day by taking group photos at events they hosted; some submitted poems and artwork to the International Pompe Day Art Contest; some uploaded photos of what “Together We Are Strong” means to them to the International Pompe Day Photo Gallery; some families and organizations used the day as a launching point for treatment, disease awareness or newborn screening campaigns or fundraisers.
The ways to celebrate and recognize International Pompe Day and to show how “Together We Are Strong” are as unique and diverse as Pompe disease!
The goal of the AMDA’s Commemorative Book is to capture and preserve as many of these international activities and celebrations as possible–and we need YOUR help! Please contribute a submission to show how you celebrated International Pompe Day or a submission that represents “Together We Are Strong!” Submissions should be sent (along with the Submission Form) to TiffanyLHouse@aol.com.
The Deadline for submissions is June 1, 2014.
