Tiffany Laurel House
January 22, 1983 – May 25, 2025

Tiffany L. House, 42, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on May 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with Pompe disease, a rare and progressive muscle disease. One of the first and most severe symptoms she experienced was a rapid decline in respiratory function, which ultimately required her to be on a ventilator 24 hours a day. Despite these challenges, Tiffany faced her illness with extraordinary strength, resilience, and grace, continuing to live a full and meaningful life.

Tiffany was born on January 22, 1983, in San Antonio, Texas, to Randall and Marylyn House.

Tiffany’s intellect, determination, and unwavering commitment to making a difference were hallmarks of her life. She graduated with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and went on to graduate summa cum laude from St. Mary’s University Law School. Tiffany’s accomplishments were all the more remarkable given the physical challenges posed by her disease. Her legal career included practicing law at Bexar Concrete Works, a family-owned business, where she contributed her talents to support the company’s success.

Beyond her legal work, Tiffany made a lasting impact in the Pompe disease community. She was the President of the AMDA-Pompe Association in the United States and served as the Chair of the IPA (International Pompe Association), a worldwide patient support group. In these roles, she was an advocate for Pompe disease patients, helping raise awareness, providing support, and funding critical research. Tiffany was also a past member of the Texas Newborn Screening Advisory Committee, where she worked tirelessly to improve health outcomes for infants affected by rare diseases. Tiffany was also featured on Mystery Diagnosis and People Magazine for Pompe disease.

Her accomplishments, achieved despite the severe challenges of her disease, stand as a testament to her resilience, intellect, and drive. Tiffany’s determination to succeed, no matter the obstacles, has left a lasting legacy of inspiration for all who knew her.

Tiffany was deeply devoted to her family, who were her greatest source of love and support. She is survived by her father, Randall House; her mother, Marylyn House; her sister, Andrea House Faris; her brother-in-law, Warren Faris; her nieces and nephews, Alyssa, Ray, Jack, and Annie Faris; her uncle, Frank Monaco; her aunt, Jane Braswell; and many cousins who loved her dearly. Tiffany was preceded in death by her brother, Randall House, Jr.

A memorial service to celebrate Tiffany’s life will be held on June 11, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Funeral Home, located at FM1604 and Gold Canyon Road. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor her memory and legacy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the AMDA-Pompe Foundation, an organization founded by the House family 30 years ago after Tiffany’s diagnosis. The foundation supports scientific research and patient care for Pompe disease, with funds primarily raised through an annual event called “The Pull for Pompe”, sponsored by the Pre-Cast Manufacturers’ Association (PCMA) of Texas. The proceeds from this fundraiser help fund global research grants to advance the understanding and treatment of Pompe disease. For more information, visit www.amda-pompe.org.
